First: do you need to move anything?
If you had your own account on the plan (your own login, your own email), leaving Family or Duo does not touch your library. The account switches to Spotify Free, or to your own Premium if you subscribe, and your playlists, Liked Songs and podcasts stay where they are. Nothing to move.
You do need to move your library if:
- you used someone else's login, for example a parent's or partner's account;
- you want a new account with your own email, separate from the plan;
- a kids' account or an account you no longer control held your music.
How to take your library with you
- Create your new account on spotify.com with your own email (free is fine).
- Open soundmovr.com and make the free Spotify app it asks for (about two minutes). It needs a Premium account to create it; the plan's account is Premium, so log in with that one in the developer dashboard.
- Connect the plan account as "Move from" and your new account as "Move to".
- Press Read library, untick anything that isn't yours (shared playlists, someone else's podcasts), and press Start moving.
The plan account is only read: nothing on it is changed or deleted, so the person who owns it keeps everything too.
Good to know
- Do it before you leave. You need to be able to sign in to the old account while you move.
- Downloads don't move. Downloaded songs and podcasts have to be downloaded again on the new account.
- Recommendations start fresh. Discover Weekly and Daily Mixes learn your taste again on the new account.
- Shared playlists (collaborative ones) are copied as your own playlists; the original stays with the plan account.
